Tuesday has seen a welter of speculation about the identity of the next Nottingham Forest manager, with Alan Shearer a 'leading candidate', Darren Ferguson 'on the shortlist', Billy Davies 'willing to help on an interim basis' and Notts County boss Martin Allen 'staying here.'
For many fans the question that needs to be asked directly to the man himself is, is Martin O'Neill interested in the job? His erstwhile number two John Robertson has been quoted as saying that O'Neill is willing to return to management but would he be keen to come back to the club where he enjoyed such playing success?
MK Dons manager Karl Robinson doesn't attract the same kind of headlines as Shearer, O'Neill and the rest but remains clear favourite with the majority of bookmakers.
