In an interview with the League Manager's Association, Platt says: "When I was at Forest I immediately went in, didn't assess the situation as well as I should have done.
"They'd been relegated and I listened to outside influences a wee bit about certain players, that we'd been relegated because ‘he couldn't do this and he couldn't do that.'
"I went out and spent money without really assessing what the squad had and what capabilities were in the squad."
He adds: “I do think that if I went into a club now I would be much more patient and that's why the club that I eventually do go to has to have the right project because that has to be patient as well."
