Although the Hammers were Premier League opposition in name only, Reid is keen to be playing top division sides on a regular basis and cap his second spell at the City Ground with promotion.
Forest's captain and leading goalscorer, he told the club's official website: "The icing on the cake would be to take this team back into the Premier League, that is the ultimate aim.
"To play for this club in the Premier League has always been a dream of mine. If I could achieve that, it would be the proudest moment in my career.
"So that is what I am striving for personally. That is what the manager is striving for, along with the players - it is what the owners want as well."
