The 23-year-old made 13 appearances for Forest before a move to Saltergate in the summer where he has been the first-choice goalkeeper when fit, racking up 37 games already this season.
He has recovered from a torn thigh muscle to play in Saturday's local derby and said: "It would have been a horrible game for me to have missed.
"I was hoping to have made my comeback a bit sooner and was in line to play against Swindon last Saturday but tweaked my muscle in training."
Roche will meet up with Forest's caretaker managers Frank Barlow and Ian McParland again, and added: "Ian was my coach when I was in the youth team.
"I obviously know Frank quite well and I still have friends at the club."
