A party atmosphere should be in place at Glanford Park on Sunday as the Iron host Nottingham Forest, fresh from securing consecutive seasons in the second tier of English football for the first time in 47 years.
"What this group of players has achieved over the last couple of years has been remarkable," Adkins told the Scunthorpe Evening Telegraph.
"This has been a special time for the club and the players, the board of directors and the chairman deserve to take all the credit."
Already however attention is turning to next season and whether Scunthorpe can hold on to strike duo Gary Hooper and Paul Hayes.
Hooper is likely to be watched by a host of scouts on Sunday as he is being linked with a £2m move away in the summer.
