Nottingham Forest took seven points from their first three games of October, with a 3-0 win at Cheltenham the highlight, after which Colin Calderwood promised more to come from his side.

However the month ended with goalless home draws against Doncaster and Oldham and a disappointing defeat at Luton amid reports that summer signing Neil Lennon had left the club.
