The 26-year-old returns after a two-match suspension handed out for a controversial red card in the recent game at Hull City.
As Wednesday's top goalscorer this season he will be welcomed back into the fold by Owls fans with their side having drawn a blank in front of goal in the last three matches.
Two of those games, however, have yielded points away from home against promotion chasing sides in the shape of Hull and Brighton & Hove Albion.
That has kept Carvalhal's side in the play-off hunt despite a five match run without a victory and optimism remains high in S6 after a very positive season so far under the Portuguese.
Key to that has been Forestieri with the former Watford man well versed in the Championship after his spell with the Hornets.
He was the scorer of the only goal in Wednesday's 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest at Hillsborough at the end of October.
A repeat of that hard-fought clash looks likely on Saturday with two sides who have been strong defensively in recent weeks.
