Since recovering from injury, the centre-half has been kept out by the in-form pairing of Wes Morgan and Kelvin Wilson.
Breckin told the Evening Post: "I have been a pro for 15 years and this is the longest I have been out of any team for while I have been fit.
"I did chat to the manager about it. I have to keep training hard and playing well in the reserves.
"The lads who are starting are playing well and results are going the right way, so that does make it a little bit easier. The manager keeps me involved and I'm grateful for that."
