"Northampton have an excellent home record, and we had to work hard from the first whistle to get a result," said the Shrimpers boss, whose side now take on Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.
"It was nice to score from a set-piece as it was only the second time it has happened for us this season.
"We are right amongst things at the top now, and we need to keep picking up points to stay there."
