Both Steve Cotterill and Nigel Pearson named strong sides for a well-contested East Midlands derby in which both teams had chances to progress to the 4th round at the first time of asking.
A replay will be needed however at the home of the Foxes which may please neither manager with the Championship taking priority for both.
"I thought we were the better team in the first half and they were the better team in the second," said Cotterill.
"It was a tight affair, a local derby with plenty of passion, and it surprised me that with the chances and saves that were made by both goalkeepers that it has finished without any goals.
"It's another game but we'll get on with it as we always do."
