Looking stylish in their new 150th anniversary away kit, Nottingham Forest were 3-0 winners against League Two side Stevenage in their opening UK friendly of pre-season.
Matt Mills, Henri Lansbury and Jack Hobbs were on the scoresheet and Freedman was pleased with the energy level and pattern of play his side displayed.
He also confirmed that there will be more additions to his squad before the opening game of the Football League season against Brighton & Hove Albion.
Teddy Sheringham, taking charge of Stevenage for the first time at the Lamex Stadium, told his club's official website that his side got the tough test he had expected from a side managed by Freedman.
"I know Dougie, I met him out on holiday last year and I liked the way he spoke about his team," said the former City Ground man.
