With Steve Bruce's side floundering near the foot of the Premier League, Ince and Maynor Figueroa have been summoned back from the City Ground and Wigan Athletic respectively.
Touted as one of English's football's brightest prospects of recent years, Ince played six times for the Reds during his time with Stuart Pearce's men.
He may line up for Hull at Sunderland on Boxing Day while the team-mates he has just left will be in action down the road at Middlesbrough's Riverside Stadium.
Promotion hopefuls 'Boro were beaten at Ipswich on Saturday and boss Aitor Karanka feels the result will have one positive for his side.
He said: "One week ago we were at the Riverside and I think the players were thinking we are a Premier League team or a Champions League team, but now I think this is a good alarm for us to wake up and know where we are and who we are."
