The Championship axe finally falls

Dowie is the first managerial casualty in the Championship this season and has lasted just 12 league games at the newly-wealthy R's.

Just under two years ago, Dowie was axed by Charlton after a similar number of games while his time at Coventry City ended in February of this year.
