Crystal Palace and Bolton Wanderers currently occupy places in the top six but go into home fixtures at the weekend in starkly contrasting form.
The Eagles made it nine games in a row without a win when drawing at Millwall on Tuesday and face a Peterborough side needing a win if they are to stay up.
"We are one of the lucky teams, we are at the right end," said manager Ian Holloway.
"We need one more point and with a performance like that I can see us getting it. I want to get Palace in the play-offs and if we do get there I think we'll be a handful."
Bolton, meanwhile, have put together a superb run of form and will be confident of finishing the job against Blackpool this weekend.
"We're going to look forward to it," was the verdict of boss Dougie Freedman.
"It's a home game and we've won our last eight home games so we'll be trying to extend that. If we do that, we'll be in the play-offs."
Leicester City are the outsiders of the four teams still involved and know that they must win at the City Ground before looking out for other results.
Former Reds star Wes Morgan has enjoyed an excellent season as Foxes' skipper, scooping the club's Player of the Season and Player's Player of the Season awards.
“Stranger things have happened in football," he told the official LCFC website.
"But we’ve got to go out and do our own job first and foremost and then see what happens from there."
