Clough is the name being mentioned in press reports this week as a possible successor to Dougie Freedman should results not improve over the next few weeks.
The Daily Telegraph claims that the 49-year-old has 'strong support' in the Forest boardroom.
Speculation comes with the territory of being a manager (especially at the City Ground) but it is still harsh on Freedman who continues to battle against the transfer embargo that makes even a loan signing such as Liam Trotter a drawn-out process.
