Tuesday's trip to Ilkeston Town is followed by a game against Rushden & Diamonds a day later for which Colin Calderwood is set to pick a strong side.
Ilkeston, managed by former Red Nigel Jemson, played host to Derby County on Saturday, losing 5-1.
Another link with Nottingham Forest comes in the shape of midfielder Ross Gardner who was snapped up by Ilkeston after his release by Port Vale this summer.
With Notts County also set to visit The New Manor Ground, Jemson said: "I am delighted to have arranged three such good matches.
"They should attract good gates and that is always important."
Blue Square Premier (formerly the Conference) side Rushden began their pre-season with a draw at Brackley Town on Saturday.
