The waiting game

Forest gave themselves hopes of pulling off the great escape with that win over Burnley on Saturday but have they just prolonged the agony for another week?

A trip to QPR should hold no fears. Loftus Road was the scene of one of the Red's best display of the season when winning 3-0 there in the FA Cup and despite a good result at Wigan on Saturday, QPR are short of numbers and have little to play for.

Because of goal difference, Forest are realistically looking at catching two teams from three, Gillingham, Crewe and Brighton.

Crewe have to travel to an Ipswich side who can still be promoted on Saturday so there may be a chance there while Gillingham are at home to Cardiff and if they drew and Forest won it would set up an almighty battle at the City Ground on the last day of the season.

Brighton have the best chance to get out of trouble next weekend as they face rock-bottom Rotherham at Millmoor.

Mick Harford said his side would go all out to win their remaining games and help Forest but the side he inherited is not good enough and against a fired-up Brighton you fear the worst.
