With Steve McClaren having made it clear that his current squad is not good enough to compete at the top end of the Championship the rumour mill is working overtime with just hours to go until the closure of the window for permanent deals.
Linked with Nottingham Forest on Tuesday are Leeds United wideman Max Gradel, Burnley's Wade Elliott and Reginal Goreux.
The latter is a 23-year-old Haitian who is currently with Standard Liege in Belgium.
***Updated***Leeds United's official website states on Tuesday night that Gradel is returning to his native France after handing in a transfer request with a bid having been accepted from Saint Etienne.
