The tie pits together a side towards the top of the Championship with one near the foot of the Premier League but West Ham's battle against the drop may see a number of changes being made by manager Sam Allardyce for the game, which will take place on the weekend of 4/5 January.
Two FA Cup meetings since the turn of the century have ended in exciting 3-2 home wins for West Ham (Andy Reid on the scoresheet for the Reds back in 2003) but Forest claimed the most important victory in the famous old competition when winning a semi-final meeting at Villa Park in 1991 by four goals to nil.
Billy Davies praised his side, meanwhile, for their determined display at Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday when Simon Cox netted the only goal of the game and called for a realistic view of the Reds' season to date wich sees them in the play-off places at present.
