Forest notched up their best run of form in 39 years and edged their way into the play-off places for the first time this season as they came back from behind to claim a 2-1 victory over Yeovil.
It was Forest's sixth straight victory, which is their best run of wins since April 1967 and a feat even the great Brian Clough never managed.
But they made themselves work hard for it as they missed a succession of chances against a Yeovil side that look to face a fight against the drop in League One.
It took an Ian Breckin header his tenth goal of the season and a scrambled goal from Nicky Southall to earn victory.
But Forest will feel it was a win they deserved after dominating for long periods following Phil Jevons' tenth minute opener for the visitors.
Forest began the match with typical urgency, but while they spurned a few early opportunities, it was Yeovil who were to take the lead.
An Ian Breckin foul on Jevons, on the edge of the Forest penalty area, saw a free-kick awarded in a dangerous position and while Rune Pedersen was still lining up his wall the midfielder picked himself up off the floor and curled an instant shot into the corner of the net.
While the goal did not exactly come against the run of play, it was the home side who were the dominant force but who continued to spurn their opportunities.
Kris Commons almost provided an immediate equaliser with a rising 20-yard shot that Steve Collis did well to palm over the bar and, when Forest had won two corners in quick succession as a result, Ian Breckin planted a header only inches wide of the post.
Commons was the game's most lively figure and appeared again on the left, beating two players before firing a teasing ball across the face of the six yard box that narrowly eluded both Nathan Tyson and Grant Holt before Terry Skiverton made a desperate clearance at the far post.
A Sammy Clingan corner caused panic in the Yeovil box, as his whipped in ball threatened to fly straight in at the far post before keeper Collis made a scrambled save.
Commons then popped up on the right flank, where he combined neatly with Gary Holt to charge into the penalty area and strike a low, driven effort that was deflected to safety by a Yeovil boot.
Forest continued to pressure and more precise delivery from Clingan picked out Wes Morgan from a corner, with the big defender forcing a capable save from Collis on the edge of the six yard box.
While Commons also remained a threat and had Collis looking on in relief after striking a spectacular 25 yard effort that flew only narrowly wide of the post with the keeper flat footed.
But the pressure was eventually to tell as another accurate Clingan corner, curled with pace towards the near post, was neatly glanced home by Breckin, to draw Forest level and send the full house crowd into raptures.
It was a tighter affair after the interval, with Yeovil limiting Forest's chances a little more, but it was still the home side who were on top.
Tyson had fired badly over after a fine run from Gary Holt had carved out an opportunity for him on the right side of the box.
But substitute Nicky Southall was to make an immediate impact. Grant Holt followed up a powerful run down the left with a driven cross to pick out Tyson and, although Adam
Lockwood made a superb block, the ball looped up perfectly for Southall, whose header Collis could not prevent from crossing the line.
Yeovil still had a golden opportunity to level, but Jevons failed to show the same speed of thought as he had in the first half as he scuffed badly over the bar from ten yards with five minutes to play.
