Nottingham Forest ensured Wimbledon stayed anchored to the foot of the table with a six-goal mauling at the City Ground.
All the early pressure came from Paul Hart's side, and Marlon Harewood thought he'd put Forest ahead after six minutes when he volleyed home from six yards only for the linesman to rule it out for offside.
Ten minutes into the game Wimbledon came close to taking the lead when a loose ball found Joel McAnuff, but the vigilant Darren Ward denied him.
After 24 minutes Rob Gier brought Harewood down in the area and the referee pointed to the spot, allowing the young striker to open the scoring.
Eight minutes before the break Harewood doubled the lead from eight yards after receiving an accurate cross from Andy Reid.
Paul Hart didn't have to remind his team that they threw away a similar lead to Rotherham earlier in the week and two minutes into time added on in the first half Harewood provided a cross from the right for Reid to slot home a third.
Wimbledon had no way of breaking down the home defence and were dominated by the Reds midfield, and the events of the second half came as no surprise.
Just past the hour mark Gareth Taylor blasted home Forest's fourth from 18 yards and this was quickly followed by a fifth from Michael Dawson, following a goalmouth scramble.
Nine minutes from time a huge gap in Wimbledon's defence was exploited by a rampant Forest.
This time Wes Morgan dived to head home Taylor's cross to leave Wimbledon with plenty on their mind.
